WTB: Good cheap engine!
Anything will do as long as it will bolt right into my 85 K10, I figure I could find a good cheap 305 from somebody who pulled it for a bigger engine, I want something really cheap but something that could only need maybe valve seals or something, want something temporary for my 350 until I can rebuild it or until I build my 406, need something to just last till spring or summer. And also fairly close to where i'm loacted which is in Lewisville NC zip 27012.
Forgot to mention I can use the heads off my 350 on the engine as long as they will work fine, obviously won't work for a 305 though, I assume they would work fine on anything else except a 305 long as the 1.94 intake and 1.5 valves will clear the cylinders. |

A guy in the more eastern part of the state said told me he had a good 350 for 300, hes 3 hours away though, i'm going to check and make sure that what is knocking in my 350 is not the cam, if it is i'll just replace it but I think its a rod knocking, and I need something to make it through the winter.

Engine
I have a 68 C-10 with probably a late 70's good running 305. You can have the whole truck for $600.00. I am next to Daytona Beach, FL

OK my turn I just bought a 1969 truck that was running fine untill the guy pulled out infront of someone and totalled it but it has a 283 or 327 in it with a performer intake, all brakets and ramhorn mainofolds with electronic distrib. for 300.00 and I'm in the top of S.C.

wow, looks like I got some options here, find out if that motor is a 283 or 327. For some reason I like the sound of a 327 lol. Right now I don't care about cubic inches but a 406 for 400 bucks sounds pretty good. I could probably sell it to a friend for his camaro after I was done with it. I'm going to try and dig into my knock a little more to verify whats actually doing it, so i'll let you guys know if I need an engine or not, although i'm pretty certain I have a bad bearing and don't want to ruin this 350. All I need it to do is last until I get my fresh 406 put together. Depending on how far you guys are from me i'll decide that way cause I don't want to drive a real long ways to pickup an engine. Plus i'll have to drive my truck with a possibly bad rod lol, its not very bad right now though.

I think i'v decided that if I have a bad rod bearing that i'm going to just rebuild the bottom end of my 350 as there is nothing wrong with the topend. I should be able to rebuild the bottom end for about 200 bucks including machining of the crank if needed. I'm hoping its the cam hehe, I could then just pickup a Summit cam and lifter kit for 79 bucks.
PS: I have a bad habit about changing my mind all the time, so sorry if anybody is angry for me asking about something I changed my mind about Last edited by Destructo; 10-15-2003 at 11:23 PM. |
