start spraying penetrating fluid on your shackles and shocks now.

Seeing how no one is responding I will say my 2 cents.
Yes start spraying the shackle bolts now. Especially rears. Fronts usually aren't too bad. Steering arm will need to raised unless you go with drop pitman arm. The steering can be a real pain too to remove. The 3 cones rust in there pretty good. Plan on putting ones in. Brake lines will have to be lengthened. E-Brake cables may be ok. I've seen some work out ad some have to lengthened. Drive shafts should be checked after install. Some will say you don't have to do anything to them but I'm not one of those people. You altered the height and therefore changed the geometry of the driveshafts. So in the end the driveshafts should be lengthened to the correct length. You will find people adamant about not doing it but I don't roll like that. Do it the right way. I can't think of anything else right now. I'm sure others will chime in and add anything if I forgot something or pick this post apart. Let me know if you have any other questions. Pics are great too!! Hope this helps. |

Liftlaw - Thanks.
(To be honest, I'm surprised more people haven't chimed in, since the 4" lift on square bodied trucks seem to be extremely common. I'm just new to the 4x4 game. In fact I was getting prices on rims and asking for 6x5.5 patterned rims, when the guy told me go check because the 3/4 had 8x6.5. Sure enough!!! Felt really stupid I should have checked that!!! ) |

Any time!
You may have gotten more replies in the 4x4 section. Not sure though. I haven't any real luck there either. Depending on the salt application of the roads in the winter there will determine how much of a pain the rear it will be. I think it's more fun to play in the 4 wheel drive world than 2 wheel. I've never looked back. Anything else pops up let me know and I'll see if I can help out. |
