Anti-lock Light On
I just put a rotor and new pads on the front of my '95 K2500 Suburban last weekend. It stops real nice now but even since the first time I started it that light is on. What could I have done to cause that? Is it the sensor just happed to go bad at the same time? Everything came apart easy, when I had been warned the sensors are usually rusted stuck and you just leave it in and disconnect at the frame. I felt lucky, but now that dang light is on. I guess I don't have anti-lock now, which doesn't worry me. If it could be something simple I'd like to keep it right. If it's a big deal I'll just pull the fuse. Don't need anti-lock anyway since I know how to drive. Any advise on why it's on?

Re: Anti-lock Light On
I believe fullsize gm trucks from 95 and older is a rear wheel antilock system and a pic of the master cylinder area and below it would verify it. Possibly the single wire going to the combination valve before the abs could be disconnected to see if the light goes off. I think there were 3 ways a light could be turned on, abs modulation assy, combination valve and emergency lever inside cab pushed down.
If by chance this is what i call an active 4 channel large abs modulator then it's a totally different story. Again, a pic will verify. |

Re: Anti-lock Light On
94 and earlier had RWAL, 95 and up had 4WAL. I would check to make sure the sensor to rotor clearance is adequate. You should be able to get a code pulled by a shop with an older scan tool. You can also check for codes yourself via the OBDI connector.
This article will help you: http://www.aa1car.com/library/abs_kelseyhayes.htm Look for the section labeled KELSEY-HAYES 4WAL ANTILOCK BRAKE TROUBLE CODES Good luck!
