Front Driveshaft
My front driveshaft is worn out where the slip yoke is, splines are shot. Will these interchange? It'd be nice to get rid of that double joint.

Re: Front Driveshaft
No, that double joint is in there for a reason. Get it rebuilt.

Re: Front Driveshaft
If you want more information, or you just have trouble sleeping, do a web search for CV-joint vs U-joint. (Constant Velocity joint and Universal Joint)
But the short answer is that driveline/pinion angles are different for those two different types of joints. It's actually likely it will FIT, but will result in vibration. That vibration isn't just annoying, it will also shorten the life of everything it's attached to.

Re: Front Driveshaft
i had eliminated my double cardone joint when i did my 4l80 swap. and the vibration is only noticeable/ happens when in 4wd driving like 50+, so if that doesnt apply to you, or can live with it when you do drive in 4wd on the road then go for it.
i had used the front drive shaft from a 1996 suburban 1500 and i had to get a conversion ujoint to be able to mount it to the front yoke
