69 c20 axle swap
Hi everyone, with the weather not great for driving im looking to upgrade the truck a little before spring. i have the original 8 lug axles on my truck and im looking to go to a 5 or 6 lug wheels and 3.73 rear. has anyone made the conversion to something that is common to find in a junk yard or inexpensive on craigslist?
Any and all thoughts would be greatly appriciated |

Re: 69 c20 axle swap
You have a c20 truck and want to change the rear axle only to a 1/2 ton axle?
Or You have a C10 truck that someone put an 8 lug rear end under?

Re: 69 c20 axle swap
I have a C20 and wish to change my gearing also. Especially after my next engine rebuild.
The Dana 60 will support a 3.54 gear ratio, not to mention the 3.73. You will want more power with those ratios. On a personal note just for me, I would not ever go down to a 1/2 ton axle just for the cool rims availability. 1/2 ton trucks can not do the work of a 3/4 ton. I have had a wet cord of oak on my truck with no problems weighing roughly 4000 lbs. Did that once with my 1/2 ton loaded dry wood and it was sitting on its little rubber bump stops. |
