VIN # decoding

Hi All,

I'm as new as you can get, but I've got big plans for my new 67(?) GMC Stepside Longbed.

I've found VIN decoders here and at GMCPauls, but they don't exactly match up to what I have. Mine shows the following (inside driver side door):
CS1590CPC15158A

Can anyone explain this to me, or point me in the right direction?

Thanks, and I look forward to learning and sharing with you all,

Lefty

GMC's are strange. I can decode a Chevy VIN from memory, but I've never found the documentation on GMCs to figure out how the VIN works for them. I know that there are people on this board that can decode GMC VINs though...

Yah there are some GMC variations.. anyway.

C = conventional
S = six cyl
1 = 1/2 ton
59 is the cab to axle code which in this case the 59 means 54 inches.
0C is the step side fender box.
P = Pontiac assembly plant
C = 1967 and in this GMC vin variation a B = 68 and A = 69
15158A is the sequential number of the vin.

And welcome to the 67-72 boards.
