Hello from Austin. I've had my 71 C10 (pictured) for about 15 years and have been a lurker hear for about 5. The vehicle needs a little work so over the next unspecified period here's what I'd like to do:
Update the braking system: It's a disk/drum config but without power assist I have to stand on the pedal to get it to stop. Engine and drivetrain: The engine (307 ci) still runs pretty good, but is tired. The transmission is a 3-speed that's been converted to a floor-shift. It's pretty arduous to drive, so I'm thinking about an engine swap with a automatic trans; perhaps a crate 350 & 700R4. I may be off-base with this engine/trans selection but will do some research to see what might be the best fit. It's not a daily driver, but used whenever there's a washing machine or sofa to be moved or some light towing required. It sleeps in the garage about 95% of the time. Thanks

Nice looking ride.
Your proposed 350/700r4 is a well proven combo & prob the easiest for swapping. The trend these days is LS based drivetrains (5.3l/4l60e) but they can be spendy until you know the in/outs of the swap. Welcome home
