1954 Chevy 3600 3/4 Ton Ring & Pinion?

Hello to everyone...

I have 1954 Chevy 3600 3/4 ton truck. I need ring & pinion kit for my differential. It is factory parts. My factory engine changed. It is 265 cu inch V8 engine now. Transmission is manuel column 3 speed but I will do automatic on column. Truck is very slow. I want to buy new ring & pinion kit.I want to destroy the sound on differential.

What is my truck factory ratio?

What is your suggestion ring & pinion for 265 cu v8 engine?

Thanks.Serkan

You probably have 4:56 gears in it now. 4:11 is the highest ratio you can get for that rear end. They are not available new & used ones are very rare. They only came in 67-72 3/4 ton trucks with v-8 & automatic. An o-drive automatic might be your best bet.

Since it is pretty well impossible to just go to the local wrecking yards and find a later rear axle that fits and has the right gear ratio and shipping one from the states isn't financially feasible in most cases
I'm not finding any comparable size European or Japanese or ? trucks that may be available to you that have 8 lug wheels. That would be the simple solution but it doesn't look simple. With six lug you would have a number of options.

With an automatic you may need 3.5 gears or even 3.8 to have any real road speed.

If you haven't bought the new wheels yet I would seriously look into changing the rear axle and changing the front hubs to match. 6 lug bolt pattern would give you a number of locally available truck axles to pick from in Toyota and Isuzu among others and maybe some we don't get here. You could get a set of six lug Bendix brakes from someone here or order a disk brake kit. that may mean that you can get most of the pieces you needed from the US and possibly locate the wheels you need there rather than paying extra to have them shipped and end up with a one box shipment for front brake parts and possibly spindles.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

I do not beleive any of them will work. I do not know there part # but appears to be for a 14 bolt or dana . If your rearend is still stock it will be a eaton ho52 / 72 . Your truck appears to have been modified so I would make sure you still have the stock rearend. You do not want to order the wrong part. Another thing is the dropout is very very heavy. I gave up trying to sell them and have even crushed a few as shipping always killed the deal. Good luck
