Cracked plastic trim - how to fix?
I have a donor parts truck I have been pulling parts from. One of the things I got out recently was the headliner trim and the corner post trim. Two of the corner post trim pieces are cracked, each has a crack about 2-3" long. Anyone have a good way to repair?
The thought I had was to super glue or hot glue a supporting piece of plastic on the backside. Anyone have a better idea? |

Re: Cracked plastic trim - how to fix?
I have seen a thread in the past about this subject. I want to say they used that JB weld stuff? I'm not positive on that though.
Try and do a search, I'll do the same, and see if we can find it.

Re: Cracked plastic trim - how to fix?
Thanks - looks like they used a soldering iron to weld it together. May try that.

Re: Cracked plastic trim - how to fix?
I have the same problem with some of my wood grained plastic trim. I was thinking of JB weld then having it vinyl wrapped with wood grain....Anybody tried that?

Re: Cracked plastic trim - how to fix?
I used Harbor Freight $1 per small tube epoxy and glued a thin piece of sheet metal to the back to prevent flexing. Then I used the same epoxy to fill the crack on the face of the trim. If you are painting over the trim it won't be noticeable.

I have heard either abs or pvc glue work good. I just can't remember which one it is

Re: Cracked plastic trim - how to fix?
Thanks for the ideas - I used a soldering iron to melt it back together today. Seems to have made a pretty strong joint.
