OEM air cleaner with electric choke

I am looking to put together a thermal air cleaner setup. I have a Quick Fuel carb with an electric choke, and a big block with manifolds. I was thinking I could just pick up a basic quadrajet thermal air cleaner from a 70's or early 80's car and maybe have to cut it to clear the electric choke. Then try to rig something up for the heat stove, maybe use a heat stove from a small block and some thin sheet metal to adapt it to the big block exhaust manifolds.

Anyone see any major issues with this idea? Anyone successfully cobbled together a big block heat stove without finding an original big block heat shield? Anyone managed to use a holley-style aftermarket carb with an electric choke with such a setup?

Thanks for your suggestions.
