the craigslist dumptruck is officially home

well for those of you that saw the ad. the deal was this and a dirty 85 blazer had to go as a package no exception. I went to pick up the dump today and with a few minutes of tinkering it fired up and drove itself out of the garage and onto my trailer. the 17. tires have some bad flat spots in them but I will see if they work out at all. the motor runs good no smoke has a slight miss in one cyl but I will check the plugs and for all I know its just crud on a valve from sitting. body is nice was redone in the 90s. not perfect but still a nice truck. will be spending some time here and there to get some of the mechanics dialed in. the dump works good. and I think I have a line on at least a pair of 17.5 radials to put on the front. more pics coming soon.

Nice! I saw that in the craigslist thread. The dump truck looks in great shape for the price. Glad you were able to get it running on the spot!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: the craigslist dumptruck is officially home

Very cool truck
Are you going to leave it the way it is?
I'm sure you will get a lot of attention driving that up there
You just don't see nice flatbeds or dumps around much anymore
Most were worked to death
I still have one 69 dump that works daily in my company
But out here the trucks hold up a bit better
Congratulations on getting that one

Re: the craigslist dumptruck is officially home

finally got these to load had trouble since yesterday. well here it is with a bath to knock the dust off. spent the day today driving it around and it runs good and drives good but the tires have flat spots that wont go away and it makes the ride awful with the dump banging around. since it has 17.5 I think I may buy a set of 8 lug 16 inch duallys and put a nice set of rubber I have on it so it rides real smooth like one of these should.

Looks really good. A set of 19.5's would really make it rock and help with the low gearing too, yea I'm jealous

Re: the craigslist dumptruck is officially home

UPDATE.

well I have my eye on a set of 19.5s for this thing from jeff in wv. but before I jump on wheels I have another issue to work out. it seems cylinders 1 and 3 are weak. we swapped everything out but still have a miss in those 2 cylinders. so I am going to pull the right head and see what's going on in there. any one have any tips or secrets I need to know to do the head gaskets on a 305e. and yes I adjusted the valves to the point were I loosened them to a good clack and still ran rough. I think maybe a blown gasket between those 2 cylinders? that will be the project this week after the rain rolls through.

Re: the craigslist dumptruck is officially home

well heres an update. the blazer has been sold and drove out of the yard off to its new home were it will be restored. the guy wanted a 4 speed blaze like the one he used to have. and the dump I did the intake gasket to fix the misfire rebuilt the carb installed a new master and just installed the new 19.5 rims with almost new radials from jeffs bowtie. thanks jeff they ride amazing. this thing is turning into a real looker. first pic shows the 17.5 rims and bias plies and the second is the new 19.5 you cant tell much of a difference but the rears are about 1.5 inches taller and wider and ride like a cloud.

A flip unfortunately. I would love to keep them all but have had some money woes the last year so have been forced to sell more than I keep. But I do enjoy putting my touch on then while I have them.
