Fleet versus Step Side
Did the SPID call out the step side bed? How could you tell if a truck was originally a step side or fleet side? Thanks

Re: Fleet versus Step Side
Yes it did. You could tell by the Model number. I should be the first thing listed in the options list on the SPID (at least it is on mine). Here is how it breaks down.

Re: Fleet versus Step Side
Check this out...depentant on your VIN number you may or may not be able to determine if your truck was originally a Stepper.

Re: Fleet versus Step Side
The fleet/step info has never been part of the VIN, it's always been part of the SPID (Model #).
If your glovebox is gone, and if you're lucky, the original chalk marks may still on the frame and cowl/firewall (on the PS usually), the model number should be there too. It's easily readable when I blow it up, but the model number is upside down on my frame, it matches my SPID and verifies that my truck was originally a CS10704 which is a 2wd, I6, SWB, Stepside, which it was when I originally got it.

Re: Fleet versus Step Side
Thanks guys. I've never paid attention to the 10704 versus the 10734 before. Any day you learn something new is a good day.

Re: Fleet versus Step Side
FYI, for 67-69 GMCs the type of bed is in the VIN. 5th digit is either C for Fenderside or D for Wideside on pickups.
