Brake problems

In May of 2016 my 1986 swb started having a brake pull. The passenger front caliper froze up and cooked the pads/rotor. I replaced front pads, rotors, calipers and hoses. After bleeding I spun the front wheels by hand and the passenger wheel was tighter than the driver side, but no brake pull so I assumed it was ok. Fast forward 7k miles later and the passenger inner pad has gone metal to metal. The wheel turns but is still tighter than the other side. The caliper pushes in no problem so the caliper and hose are ok. Now I'm frustrated. Do these trucks have a proportioning valve? Could that be not fully releasing the passenger brake? Any ideas are greatly appreciated

Re: Brake problems

Actually it is tighter to collapse the passenger caliper than the driver side. If i open the bleeder it pushes in very easily. Does that mean the new hose is bad? Can the metal line have an internal fault? Looks like there is a valve under the core support with brake lines coming in/going out. Is that the proportioning valve?

Re: Brake problems

yes that is your proportioning valve not sure if that could cause your problem, sounds like it could be...I had this happen once but the problem was one of the calipers was the wrong one...but you replaced both,so shouldn't be a problem....google your problem and you will probably find your answer.... http://www.mpbrakes.com/techtalk/how...ing-brake-drag read this

Re: Brake problems

I removed the brake line from the brake hose and the caliper collapses easily too so the hose should be ok. Moving up the line proportioning valve is next
