welp, I found out whats wrong with my engine today..
nothing! I finally broke down and took it to a speed shop. they said everything was good except for my HEI and timing, the carb needed some dialing in. they gave me the dyno tune and I have to say this is the best my truck has ever ran, finally! my stock HEI just isn't cutting the mustard so I'll be replacing it soon and I should be good to go. I guess the engine was just totaly out of wack all this time.
They also did two dyno pulls, 400 HP at 5800 RPM the shop is called JBA Racing, heres the link for you so cal guys http://www.jbaracing.com/index.htm?dyno.asp~mainFrame they said I had a bad ass small block and something about if this engine was in a Camaro...... |

400 HP...sweet!
I would imagine that is corrected for at the flywheel....because if it was rear wheel you would have somehting like 500 flywheel horsepower. Glad you got the problem sorted out

Hes using #186 castings with 2.02-1-6 SS valves. A real nice bowl port job..screw in studs..back cut valves..spring pockets cut to accept 1.45 springs..( I built them... )

Either way, 400 HP is great! Interested in also hearing what the dyno tune costed. Surely it is money well spent.

The Dyno Tune costs $120 for 1.5 hours plus parts if needed, I didn't need anything but the HEI, that's next week.
Man I wish the HP was at the wheels, 400 at the flywheel, my torque was lower that I hoped though, around 330-350 JBA was great, they really knew what they were doing and didn't try to jerk me around at all and didn't try to sell me anything. I figure any place that can build a 9 second 305 must have something going on. Another board member Smitty also had good dealings with JBA |
