GM cab lights part #999197?
Still in factory box, are these rare?
My cousin has a set and offered them to me but I'm not interested in drilling holes in my truck. I don't have a picture but they are the ones that look like a fireman's hat. |

I don't think they are as rare as people think. You see em come up on the board fairly often. I got a set of repro ones that are pretty much identical to the OEM's for around 36 bucks, that included gaskets and wiring (id have to look it up to be positive). I'm also pretty certain you can still get the lenses from GM. I had been looking for a set and a few people mentioned this to me, and again they weren't that expensive, but it was just the lenses.
When you see em here listed as NOS and they start real high, but when a person does a little searching you find out its crazy to pay that high price.

Re: GM cab lights part #999197?
I recently bought an "NOS" dome assembly (“Bright Metal Bezel” 8912749) with lens for $45. I don't recall what it was exactly, but the back is not quite the same as the original. It came in what I'd estimate an old GM package, but it may come way of Mexico. Can't really say, but I'm using it for sure.
Mexico currently (or recently) builds GM electrical components for our trucks. I can't speak on quality. Hopefully good, I bought a headlight switch and a few other parts as well.

These were bought from a chevy dealership years ago and been sitting on a shelf in my cuzz garage every since. I know they are factory originals and I like them but I don't plan to drill any holes in my truck to install them. I will pass on any info I get to my cuzz.

Sorry, I was confused. I thought you meant dome light. Can't say how rare, but might fetch a nice price. I don't see any new on the web. Plug the 999197 into search for this website, a few things come up.

Re: GM cab lights part #999197?
I was really considering a set for sale on the board a year or so ago. Pretty pricey but I really wanted them. I got PMs from three or four people telling me I could still get them and they were only around 10 bucks or so a piece (just the lens part).
Here are some fire hat lights on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Partsam-Round...ber+cab+lights Im not trying to rain on OPs find at all. I just want him to know that the find, while cool, probably wont bring a giant pay day. Ive burned myself a few times thinking I had a real money maker NOS part. If he does get them and decides to sell on the board he will have to pay to be a subscribing member to have selling privileges.

Replacements were made for these, probably still are, since they were in use through '91 models. But still the OEMs are worth a good bit more.
