Re: Motor Question?
What are your end goals for horsepower? The Vortec heads flow decent for stock heads but need machine work done on them to fit much more than a stock camshaft. .040 over is also quite a bit, if you are planning on making any serious power, it would be a good idea to get the block sonic checked to make sure the cylinder walls aren't too thin, and an even better idea to start off with a fresher block that isn't punched out so far.
Other than that, your budget is the limit. Aluminum heads or good aftermarket cast heads would be a major step up from the Vortecs, paired with an intake and headers will get you the best power. The camshaft should be ground to your application, taking into account things such as vehicle weight, operating RPM range, transmission type, gear ratio, tire size, and supporting mods performed on the engine. |

Re: Motor Question?
possibly 400-500hp. i was thinking of doing a 383 stroker kit and maybe using the vortec heads but dont know if that will work or not.
