The Chevy Wrecker...

I don't know much of the story on this truck... I'm 48 yrs. old and I have known of this wrecker since I was roughly 7 yrs. old. It was always parked out front of the very small (family owned) local to me Wetmore's Jeep. I can remember for MANY yrs. driving by it and always hoping it was parked in its usual spot. Roughly 10 yrs. ago I stopped seeing it and that was a bummer.. This past fall while at an antique steam engine show that is pretty close by I came upon a great child hood memory. SHE STILL LIVES! I wasn't able to locate anyone to find out its whereabouts all these yrs. but I was so happy it is still around... One of the coolest lookin wreckers I've ever seen.. This truck was loved because this is the shape I always remember it being in. Just thought I'd share...

Great story and great looking truck. Looks like either a 480 or 500 Holmes.

Somebody sure has kept good care of that truck.

Where does one acquire the chrome center piece or caps that are on those spoke wheels?

Not sure about the Rears but the Front Caps look like originals that were Chromed.

Looks like a '69. Good to see it being well cared for. I think the rears are baby moons on hub mounts. This is the kind of truck pride that inspired me into being the truck nut I am. Whatever it is and whatever it's purpose, and it's best to have one, it shows not only that it is well cared for, but well designed/thought out, nicely lettered, and with just a few personal dress up goodies...not too much. Still the tool it was bought as, only better

Its probably hard to tell in the pics but it has a vinyl top on it. The vinyl top has been on it since the first time I saw it as a little kid...

I will do that for sure. I waited about a half hour or so hoping the owner would show up but no such luck...
