Re: sway bar

You can try the site parts section, Craigslist or your local wrecking yards for one out of a 73 and up 3/4 or 1 ton GMC or Chevy pickup. Or one of the aftermarket vendors here.
What is the condition of your shocks, tires and suspension?
Maybe you should make sure what you have now isn't worn out first.

I have installed new gas matic shocks, new ball joints, and four new tires

Re: sway bar

If you have any junk yards in the area P-vans/step vans usually have the large 1 1/4" sway bar that drop rite in these trucks.
A good cold chisel and your favorite bfh will make easy work of the 2 or 4 rivets that need too be removed for the frame mount. Most I have come across ed are usually bolted on though.

Bushings can usually be bought off the shelf at any auto parts store.

Re: sway bar

I tell you what, the skinny factory bar in my 68 feels no where near the same as the big fat bar I got from Early Classic on my 71

Re: sway bar

I'm going to be going with the CPP front sway bar (1 1/4") for my 67' C10 step side.

Re: sway bar

Heres a link to a thread form years ago on installing a front sway bar. As has been stated your truck is only as good as the sum of its parts. If your front end parts, shocks , brakes and tires are up to snuff then a front ( you can go rear too and I just ordered one for my truck ) 1 1/4 inch front sway bar will make a big difference in handling. I think it was posted already but a 1 1/4 inch bar from a 1973-1987 Chevy C30 or GMC 3500 will work. Also some of the C20's and GMC 2500's with the 9000 GVW Package have the 1 1/14 inch bar as well. Get yourself some new bushing ( I prefer the polyurethane ones but others will argue they squeak, which mine never have ) and about 2 hrs labor and within 2 minutes of driving after install you'll notice the difference.

Re: sway bar

I just installed a CPP front sway bar on my 69 c10 today along with rear shocks relocation brackets and there rear shocks. My truck is a 4/5 drop currently and it made a huge differance. This is the best $250 I think I have ever spent. I've been looking at complete clips because you Truck handled so badly and I was wanting so much better handling I thought that was the only way. I was actually pushing corners and on ramps on the way home from the shop. I still can't believe the differance these simple parts made. I've put larger swap bars on previous vehicles and they made a differance but this completely change this old truck.
