What should I run in the 1/4?

Hey guys, Im going to firebird raceway this saterday for a meet I set up on my other board. There will be LOTS of v6 honda accords out there that Im gona have to whoop up on. My truck is going to be the "control" part of our experiment. Im teaching these guys about racing and how it works So Im curious as to what I should run.

vortec 350 [at the crank it should be 300hp, 380lbs/ft], 2100rpm stall 2004R tranny, 3.07 rear gears, 79 c10. Mods [if you call them that] include HEI module and coil, ramhorn manfolds and dual 2.5" exaust, carter 600cfm carb.

Low/mid 15's would be my guess at about 90MPH. The reason I say this is because when I was sporting a small block it was built more than yours and i had 4.10 gears and Hoosiers QT's...14.6 @ 93 MPH was my best time. I am by no means bragging, just giving you my specs/time so you can compare.

Good luck out there.

I agree with Jeff. Anything in the mid 15's is respectable with your combination. I ran the 14.2 in my sig. with a T-400, 3.42 posi, 28" tires and a 383/450hp motor and very poor traction.

Have a blast and post those slips ASAP!

Check out my sig. Roughly the same engine you are running (in the sense of 300HP at the crank), but I have 3.73's. I would say about a 15.30 @ 88MPH. Good enough to beat a new stock truck, probably even a Hemi.

Sounds pefect! Stock accords will run in the high 15's, so I can show these guys up front the difference between low end torque and high end HP. Thanks guys

Either my truck runs really well or I got a freak....I absolutely MONKEY STOMP new Silverados with the 4800 or 5300 motors. not even a race. Ran many LT-1 F-bodies and pulled on all of them that were stock. Ran my Own LS1 F-body with my dad driving and were dead even 1 and 2 and he only had me by a car at the end of 3.
I REALLY need to run my truck!@! haha

Your truck should not be pulling low 13's dave.....what secrets are you hiding? My 78 won't even pull low 13's.

Not saying it runs low 13's but from what I have seen with other cars judging by what they typically run...low to mid 14's are possible if I can get out.

Never ran it in the power sucking state of Colorado haha.. Man that place makes a fast car seem slow. Our ZR-1 Vettes would only run 13.1'....but at 118mph hehe

Ls1 cars get into the mid 12's with very very little mod work. Maybe exhaust and a air lid.

***SOME*** can and do...typical is mid to high 13's for most. With a clutch my car will do 12.60's@109 or so. But that is on the back burner now as my torque convertor is assed out I belive. That or the tranny. Iam hoping its the tc so I can get my stall now. hehe
