GMC Owners - VINs

Since there is very little info on GMC VINs out there, I was thinking that if we all sort of try and figure out the VINs as best we can with the info we have maybe we could come up with a fairly accurate VIN decode sheet on our own. And for those who don't have the books or info this here may help.

From the Factory Assembly Manual I have this is what it has for 1970:

1st character = Series Designation / Chassis Type
C = 4 x 2 Conventional 10-60 Series
G = 4 x 2 Forward Control body frame integral
H = 4 x 2 Conventional 70-80 Series
J = 6x 4 Conventional 70-80 Series
K = 4 x 4 Conventional
M = 6 x 4 Conventional 60 Series
P = 4 x 2 Forward Control Conventional
S = 4 x 2 Bus Chassis
T = 4 x 2 Tilt Cab
(Appears to be the same for Chevys)

2nd character = Engine Type
E = V8 Gas M = V6 Gas S = 6 Cyl Gas
V = V6 Detroit Diesel
( Also appears to be the same for Chevys)

3rd character = GVW Range
1 = 1/2 ton ( 3900-5800)
2 = 3/4 (5200-7500)
3 = 1 (6600-14,000)
4 = 1 1/2 (13,500-18,000)
5 = 2 (15,000-30,000)
6 = 2HD (19,000-45,000)
7 = (21,000-44,500)
8 = (23,000-48,500)

4th & 5th character = Model Type
02 = Flat Face cowl chassis only
03 = Cab - chassis
04-34 = Cab and pickup box (Mine)
05 = Panel body
06-16 = Suburban
09 = Cab (flat bed)
14 = Blazer

6th character = State Certification
Hyphen = NONE
K = PA (Z55)
T = PA (Z74)

7th character = Assembly Plant
A = Atlanta ( '71 changed to Lakewood )
B = Baltimore
C = Southgate
D = Atlanta GMAD ('71 changed to Doraville)
F = Flint
G = Framingham
J = Janesville
K = Kansas City ('71 changed to Leeds)
L = Los Angeles ('71 changed to Van Nuys)
N = Norwood
P = GM Truck - Pontiac
R = Arlington
S = St. Louis
T = Tarrytown
U = Lordstown
W = Willow Run
Y = Wilmington
Z = Fremont, BOP
1 = Oshawa
2 = Ste. Therese

8th character = Model Year
1970 = Z = 15 series, A = 25 - 35 series

9th-13th numbers are the Unit Numbers
1970 Starting with 50,001

This is all that I have on the VINs from the book like I said above. I hope someone else can add to this and/or correct any mistakes I have made.

Only a couple things I can add:

for my 4th and 5th characters, I have an "OD" which I have translated to fleetside pickup.

my 6th character, I don't have a digit or a hyphen. there is simply a space.

and my 8th character is an "A" denoting 1969. other than that, looks good!
