Preferred music when working on your truck?

Sneaking music into a truck site.

I spent well over 200 hours and plenty of $ to collect personal favorite tunes, about 3000 tunes.......................It's sorted by genre and artist. Exception being I have decade playlists since the 1950s, which are one-hit wonders, perhaps an artist with few great songs, and five or so tunes each that are a must for the decade.

At any rate, I seem to prefer the 60s decade playlist. Classical for very detailed work - less 1812 Overture that is. Imagine using a brush when that song bursts.

For what it's worth, I'm Classical to real jazz to Hendrix to Zeppelin/Pink Flyd to old pop guy. Not a big country fan, with the one and only Johnny Cash being the exception.

I have Amazon prime, and tend to listen to the "80's pop" prime music station while working on the truck. Good stuff.

3500 tracks on random. It's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.

I know what you mean.... My tastes range from classical to modern metal. Its odd when it jumps from Mozart to Five Finger Death Punch to Johnny Cash to the Eagles....

Relative my description in the OP. I generally set the entire collection on random when I pound my pearls. Pearls being a drum set.

Electric Blues, 70's Rock. I have 7000 songs on a portable hard drive. That's over 400 hours worth on random without a repeat.

Re: Preferred music when working on your truck?

I tend to go 80's and 90's rock when working on the truck. Just feels right to have something like Motley Crue or Van Halen blasting while wrenching. Then I hop in her and cruise to some modern/pop country. Slowly easing into older country though and some blues too. A far cry from the electronic and 90's alternative rock I formerly enjoyed.

Re: Preferred music when working on your truck?

I try not to listen to music while working on the truck, I'm to busy talking to myself the whole time to make sure I don't mess up, like telling myself what size wrench or socket I need so by the time I get to the tool box I don't forget. The golden years.....

Re: Preferred music when working on your truck?

I got a 160 gig I pod.. with all types of music on it, techno, 80-90's dance, 70's rock, 80's hair metal, you name it..
but the ipod random play, well sucks.. it tends to play the same songs..
If I use it today, and shut it down and in 5 days I am in garage with it back on random play shuffle, it will play many of the same songs from the last shuffle play time..
And with 15000+ songs on the thing it's useless as a shuffle play ..As it never plays 80% of the tracks on it.

If you don't mind the commercials, Pandora has some really good classic country stations. I have an old smartphone that I don't use anymore, and have Pandora, Amazon Prime music, and Spotify loaded on it. It just uses the wifi to connect, and doesn't need a cellular connection to play music.

Spotify is another good one. I've created some playlists of all my favorite classic country songs from the 70's and early 80's. This is my "driving the truck" music, as it takes me back in time to drive the truck and listen to the stuff that was popular back then.

There's nothing like cruising in the truck with the windows down, and listening to Charlie Pride. "Is anybody going to San Antone" why, as a matter of fact, I am...
