2003 chevy with tow mirrors passenger side moves by its self?

So trying to chase down an irritating problem with my 2003 Chevy 1500 HD with the rectangular style tow mirrors on it. About 2 weeks ago the passenger side tow mirror mainly when backing up moves all crazy on it's own. I think once or twice it's even done it while just driving down the road. I can go into my mirror adjustments and fix it but it's getting to be a pain in the ass doing it all the time. I hooked up a scan tool at work couldn't find any codes or any updates for either door module. Aside from buying a new mirror anybody else ran into this before or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Re: 2003 chevy with tow mirrors passenger side moves by its self?

Hoods,

To the best of my knowledge this vintage of truck did not come with the HD Tow mirrors, I have the same truck. Does your truck have multiple driver settings? I had the same issue, the aftermarket mirrors don't communicate the Multiple driver and auto mirror adjustment settings weather the presets are being moved from driver 1 to driver 2 or not. I called the company that made the mirrors that I purchased and installed and they apologized to me for my issue but said that no aftermarket mirror will work with the multiple driver setting and auto mirror adjustments. You need to go into your settings on your driver preferences and turn off your automatic mirror adjustment setting. You will still be able to adjust the mirrors with the dial on the door, they just wont move back to your presets if you change them.

Re: 2003 chevy with tow mirrors passenger side moves by its self?

Hmmm interesting thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes I am under the same impression that it didn't come stock with the mirrors it has on it. I am unable to get into my steering wheel controls to change back and forth between driver 1 and 2 they have never worked since I got the truck. I had wandered the same thing but find it weird that it could have some how changed without me getting in there to access it. Is there any other way to get in there such as with a scan tool or such that you're aware of?
