1966 Seat question

I just sent my 1966 front seat in for reupholster. They just called and it has 2 broken springs in the lower seat cushion. Has anyone ever attempted to change a spring from another seat? Looks like a real project. Any other ideas?

Re: 1966 Seat question

I have welded some and pulled some from a donor seat and replaced them. Was not to bad a job. I had to weld a couple on the drivers side on my 66.

Re: 1966 Seat question

I would think that an upholstery shop would have something that would work AND have the experience and knowledge how to do it!

Re: 1966 Seat question

Lots of upholstery shops use a bridge piece over the broken springs instead of replacing them and that is not a long term solution. Replacing the spring is the way to go I have had to rip old junk frames apart to get the pieces . Having broken springs is a real common thing in these trucks ...They have seen alot of action over the years
