Pinion set up help

Overtightened my pinion nut to 35in./lbs. Should I run it, replace it, or back it off to 25in./lbs, and run it???

Pinion nut does not tighten to 24 inch lbs . 24-32 inch lbs is the force needed to turn the pinion after it is tightened. New crush sleeve ? Old crush sleeve ?

New sleeve bearings everything. Found spec on this all over the place anywhere from 12 - 29 in. Should I take it back to 35?

Its not preferable to back off the pinion nut once you have gone to far . 35in lbs may be ok on a new bearing . If it is an old bearing I would start over for sure . But if new bearing I would back it off to 30in lbs and you should be fine . If you back it off to much the bearing will become loose and not have the proper pressure to keep it seated . If too much it will damage the bearing .

New crush sleeves are cheap. You can also get a set of shims instead, which is what I plan to use next time. More user friendly and not affected by pinion nut torque. These are for 8.5" 10-bolt.

Both the links to the videos are of the same video . But what he is doing is torquing the nut to crush the sleeve . Video is not complete info at all . Once the slack is out and the bearings start to seat is when you get preload . At this point you measure for drag and sneak up on it . Video stops short of this .
