AL WTB: 3 clip 15" 1960 Apache / GMC rims

I need to source a couple more clean rims off a 1960 GMC or Chevy Apache - these differ from what you see on 55-59 trucks so there are indeed at least three different almost identical but different versions. Take a look at this picture and see if you have one or two of these please - thanks, Steve

Thank you Andy! Only problem with your two rims is the lack of the 4 tiny nubs around the rims' edge (look closely at my Blue one to see the 4 pill-shaped nubs I am referring to). So what happened is I didn't know some of these had them and some did not, so when I carried my set to the sandblaster one was like your two and three had these 4 nubs on them. So I may buy your two anyway but if I do I'll still have three of each kind and need a fourth of either type to make a set

Does ANYBODY have at least one more of either of these?

I have some Steve but am holding out to get the other center rim profile , have any to trade ? They will look like these but still have the nubs.

I am like you Jon - I like that profile better actually. That profile was used on 57-59 trucks, and I found one original 1960 example with them too, but most Chevy 1960's and all 1960 GMC's came with this profile I am looking for. I will check and see how many I have of the 57-59 type you are wanting and see if I have all the ones I need for my 57-59 trucks, and if there are any extras or not

I disagree Steve. The picture I posted is an all original 1961 GMC with all 5 matching dated rims. Mark01b has a 1960 GMC that also had this profile but with the nubs , rims were original to his truck. My black 1959 has a completely different profile than this rim I pictured. Ive managed to locate a few of these rims and they are dated 1960 also. Being there was three different wheel manufacturers may have something to do with it.

Hmmm....down here we mostly have Atlanta built trucks, and with exception to your truck, I have to date never found any original 60-61 GMC's with the other profiles even on the internet. My 60 GMC came with three of the ones I am searching for, and Wes Hortons' Atlanta built 1 owner 1960 Apache had these on it as well. My 1 owner 1958 Cameo and 1 owner 1959 3100 Fleetside were both from California and both had all 5 original rims like the ones you are looking for. My previous 57 Cameo also had those wheels. So maybe it was a supplier location vs assembly plant geography issue. Its confusing when so few trucks of any sort are still sporting their original wheels. If you have a GMC that came with the 57-59 profile and the rims are dated 1960, then that means they were still in production beyond 1959 so that is good, because I would much rather have the profile you are wanting on my apache anyway - I like those the best. I have seen cases where the 55-56 third profile wheel came on 57-59's too, but never saw any original 60-61's with that early wheel on them yet unless someone put them there way back. Wes Horton's 1 owner Black 60 Apache is to date the first Chevrolet I have seen that came with the profile I used to associate with 60-61 GMC's only - like the light Blue one above. You may have one, but I doubt you can find a second or third 60-61 GMC that didn't have the light Blue wheel profile. Interesting stuff to ponder for sure....

Okay I see the 4 nubs around the edge now. I have one more wheel in the same condition as the others that I'm using on a frame for a roller.

This yellow one either has wheels that were changed or the profile I was stating was correct for 60 GMC's - one or the other all four don't match in any case

Steve , around here I never see the profile Im looking for on any 1957-1959 trucks in 15 inch wheels. 16 inch , yes , have a bunch of the 16s that were also 3 clip used into 1962 I believe. I will get you a picture of my 59s wheels. Yes in some of Marks pictures he had changed out the wheels. In another thread he did show the original wheels. Maybe we could ask Clemdaddy for better pictures from his 60 Suburban.

Really? All the Cameos I ever saw had the ones you are wanting like these two I have, but my 57 GMC Suburban Pickup I think has the third style I refer to as "55-56" wheels. I've seen a bunch of 55-59 GMC's with the third type like attached here

Any way you can get the dates off those rims ?

This is part of a set I picked up awhile ago , said to be off a Cameo, 1958 dated wheels , with the 4 nubs. This is the exact profile on my 1959 32,000 mile black fleetside except it does not have the 4 nubs.

I'd have to test fit a 57-58 Cameo trim ring on one of those wheels to see if the profile interferes with the ring, but who knows - after everything we've seen and said above at this point I am thinking all three styles were totally used willy-nilly and none are "correct" for any one year or make over the others. Starting to look like they were all used on everything minus the ones I am looking for being so far only 60-61 where both other styles pre-date the 60's
