Rear Differential

1965 Burb, 4wd, has TH700R AT, NP208C Transfer, front differential is Dana 44 3.73 , the only number I can find on the rear is F174 right side bottom as facing the cover. Looking for help identifying rear differential.

Re: Rear Differential

I have no idea what the F174 is but your rear differential should be a 12 bolt. That is what would have originally been under a '65 1/2 ton 4x4 Suburban. Is the Dana 44 front a closed knuckle with drum brakes, or an open knuckle with discs?

Re: Rear Differential

front is a Dana 44 5F , closed knuckle with drum brakes. Not at the shop now so can't count the rear, but I'm sure it's at least 12 bolt, but it's a different casting than the front. And the numbers aren't located in the same place as the front.
