spring at the base of the steering column
does anyone know where i can get a spring for the base of the steering column... im in canada. you know the ont that goes between the the steering column and the shaft inside under the hood. i dont need the stock one just one that will do the job.

What's that spring about, anyway? It's clearly there to preload the washer but what's the purpose of that, I wonder?

It doesn't preload the washer, it preloads the bearing in the bottom of the column. If the washer and spring weren't there you would be able to pull the steering wheel up towards you until the flex joint hit the bottom of the column, about an inch. LockDoc

yes sir that is the spring. and yes that washer is a must .. just like he said if you dont have them you can pull the whole wheel in the cab up about a inch or so. any idea where i should look for one???
