69 1 ton front conversion help

so i just bought a 69 1 ton and want to convert front over to newer disc and safer wheels. has anybody done this on here that would give some advice on conversion? i have a 89 1 ton front end looks like front a-arms and all will bolt up since ball joints are diiff. any help would be nice !! thanks rory

Do a search on the forum. There is a lot of discussion about this swap. 71 - 87 is the preferred trucks for a conversion. They usually recommend doing the entire front cross member. Don't forget about the rest of the brake components. The master cylinder needs to be matched to the brakes you are using.

I did it on my GMC a 69 also. I didn't swap the x-member though. I was rebuilding the whole front end anyways so it was relatively easy. The only odd thing was, I used the steel lines over and I think on the pass side, the fitting for the brake hose had to be different than the drivers side. Not a big deal since I had the hoses custom made anyways. I used a master and prop valve off a 72 1 ton.

did you use the newer a-arms and did they bolt up to the 69 guess they call it the saddle?

I used the factory 69 A-arms top and bottom, put in disc brake ball joints.. Bolted in the 85 spindles, rotors and calipers along with the steering linkage, then had custom brake hoses made.
