77. Fenders are cool, and cowl hood looks better than the 87 style.

Tough call, since I love them both. It's hard to beat the clasic looks of the round headlight trucks. On the other hand the square body trucks look tough, and usually have more amenities.

What condition are the trucks in?

Go w/ the 1987! Mine has 80,000 original miles and runs awesome. Very smooth, OK performance, and there isn't much under the hood.

Stupid question but is there ANY difference between 86' and 87' fenders/inner fenders? I seem to remember the PN being different.

If it is going to be a custom truck, I'd go with the 70s look. However, it is going to be a daily driver, I'd go with the 80s.

Go with the 87 and just ditch all the crap under the hood that isnt needed. The 81 to 87 just looks beter IMO. I have both styles and just use my 80 as a work-beater truck.

BaggedC10, there must be something different in the innder fenders between 81-85 and 87s, because every 86 i have seen the innder fenders are absolutely toasted, front and rear. with the 81-85 and 87 trucks, they dont seem to rust as bad.

the eighties look much better, they look more like a truck rather then a big car.

and the eighties are less prone to rust.

I think square headlights look better. I like the hood and cowl a ton better on 81-87's. I never did like the way the hood goes all the way to the windsheild.

I say get the 87. There was never a nicer looking truck than a 87 Silverado. IMO.

The front ends on the 80's trucks can take the phantom grill, which Im completley jelous of, but the 73-80's are just so much better
