I have a 30 gal tank and I spent 400 is for every thing.
Here is my 5.3 ls tanks swap part list (also works for carb motors) ●87-91 fuel tank $94.90 ● 87-91 31 gal tank straps $28.75 ● EFI 87-91 fuel tank sender $80.00 ● high pressure pump $70.00 ● fuel lines $50.00 ● high pressure filter $20.00 *Total spent = 343.65 |

Re: 64-66 what rear tank are you using ?
The '60-'62 frame is wider than the '65. I used a 22 gallon '78 chevy van tank, straps and sending unit because it doesn't hang as low as the blazer tank and fit's pretty well. I'm planning on swapping in 5.3 L33 in the near future and will use the same tank with an OEM in tank fuel pump. There's probably a couple of threads that would be helpful as well..

Re: 64-66 what rear tank are you using ?
Really? No 1969 Camaro tanks with a license plate filler? Still contemplating doing this with my 66 for the reason that it's a stepside and I don't want fender or bed filler cap. Tucking it up as tight as I can seems doable without a bunch hanging down, love the license plate filler if it can be done, but wonder if "fuel slosh" toward the filler cap is a problem...I guess I could add a baffle to a new tank...

Re: 64-66 what rear tank are you using ?
Boyd tanks look great and I bet they work great .....A little steep for some of my customers who want to do a budget build . I was just looking at a 85 blazer tank that i was thinking of building a neck to make it a top fill. Anyone try that before ?

Re: 64-66 what rear tank are you using ?
Think I spent 50$ used, clean with the filler neck, locking cap, straps and skid plate. I think it is the bigger of the Blazer tanks - 33-35 gal. I think there may have been a smaller one around 25 - 27 gal. that doesn't hang as low. I actually bought a sending unit that I had to return because it was 4" too short and wouldn't touch the bottom.

Re: 64-66 what rear tank are you using ?
I have autometer gauges. what I did was drill out the rivits to the sending unit and attach a sending unit with the correct ohms to my gauge an wire it in where the old one was. I also instslled a walbro 255 and wired it in to the existing harness. You can do the same and it will work. It may be off a little but nothing is perfectly accurate. I will try to upload pics later tonight to give you an idea of what I did.

speaking of 66 mustang tanks, anyone think this is a good pairing with a 5.3l LS engine? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a.../model/mustang
