64 LWB Fleetside Project
I picked this 1964 up in the end of January. I came across it on Craigslist and bought it 2 days before my birthday. I had been on the search for a clean light blue 64-66 fleetside for a long time. I have been pretty obsessed with 60-66 C10's for about 4 years now. I have had a few 1963's over the last few years, but ended up selling them because they needed more work than I was able to do/afford to have done. I picked this one up because of the color, condition, and how complete it was.
The truck is being built by Talon Harris at Asphalt Rodeo/Rusty Customs in Elk Grove. It's getting a low mile 350/700r4, Power Steering, Front Disc Brakes, 5 lug all around, 4.5/6 drop, 66 mustang tank, and all new wiring. I had them do the minor needed rust repair, and other than that, the body will remain original. Atleast that's the plan for now. The night I picked it up! Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
First thing I did was take off that bugly rear bumper, and added a chrome rear fleet bumper I had sitting around.

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
Motor and trans are out! And yeah, it's confirmed that my truck was originally green, kinda bummed. I was hoping it was all original, but some might say it adds character!

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
The red seat is only temporary. Talon has a brown seat that I've got my eye on, that I think will suit the truck better, plus he's a fan of the red!

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
The shop owner was understanding of my budget and let me paint the frame myself, after it came back from sandblasting.
73-87 front crossmember installed, CPP rear crossmember, and Yukon 5 lug rear conversion. |

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
Went with Alpine Green for the engine. I went with 2.5" Ram Horns from Summit, didn't want to deal with potential issues with headers. Going with stock style valve covers as well, these are too tall and firewall clearance is an issue. More suspension blasted, painted, and bolted up. It's starting to look like a truck again...sort of...HA!

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
Drilled/torched out the old bushings and cleaned up the trailing arms. I didn't think it was possible for these to be as dirty as they were! 50+ years of dirt takes a while to get off!

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
Most of the wiring is in, brake lines are in, rear axle is mounted, and fuel lines are in. Waiting on parts to get back from the powdercoater. Can't wait!

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
Interesting build. Looks great, I like the green for the motor. I painted my gmc's 305 v6 that same green. Subbed.

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
I got the wheels, inner fenders, rad support, hood hinges, and battery box back from the powdercoater. Here is a pic of some of it installed. Everything came out great!

Re: 64 LWB Fleetside project
Wheels are Wheel Vintiques Smoothies powdercoated white. I had them static balanced because I didn't want weights pounded on my freshly powdercoated wheel faces. Hopefully they don't cause a vibration in the steering wheel.
