`73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
Most LS swap headers, Gibson, Hedman, Doug Thorley all list their LS swap headers for 67 thru 87.
Hooker only list theirs from `73 thru 84... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/h...1hkr/overview/ Has anyone tried them in a 67-72 C10????

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
Those headers wont clear the stock 67-72 stands....otherwise, I would bet that they would fit your truck, with 73-up stands /mounts, depending on engine location (for/aft). Also what I see, auto trans, or hyd clutch set up on a stick shift? Longhorn

it makes sense that they would. I`ve already modified the stands from when I first did the swap to clear the shorties I used. There wasn`t that many header choices when I first did the install like 6 years ago.

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
Don't know about Hooker but I wondered the same thing about Doug's headers part number D314. They list them as 73-87 and tech support wasn't all that helpful when I asked about fitment. I think they'll fit with the 73-87 engine mounts and I have a set if that's what is required. The front suspension in my 69 is already out of an 85 so why not? The problem I have with my Thorley 324YC headers is that it's near impossible to put a steering shaft on my rack & pinion conversion the way the #1 and 3 primary tubes hang over the frame rails and the dougs look like they tuck tighter. I just ordered them yesterday and I'll post my findings.

I have an 83 C10 in my shop right know, my mount set up in my 67 has more room then the stock 83 SBC set up. When I try the Hookers I will post how they fit. Let us know @OKGMC4

Have you considered Speed Engineering headers? I'm running the 67-72 long tubes with stock stands in my 65. The fit great ant the price is right.

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
I actually almost ordered a set of the Speed Engineering headers but really wanted the ceramic coating for heat reduction. Stainless would be a lot better than painted though, and those headers sure can't be beat for price. I also chose Dougs because they are built extra heavy duty with thicker primaries and flanges, and they have a nice V band collector connection.
What interests me is this thread where a member used Chevelle Hooker headers and they look to fit pretty well. Post #16, and he's using a rack and pinion... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=388536

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
I have two sets of brand new long tube Chevelle headers here, one Kooks and one from Muscle Rods (Hedman). Neither set could fit with out cutting the frame.
I have a set of Street And Performance shorties in the truck now, they came out of a LS swapped `96 Caprice. Been in my truck almost 6 years but they are tiny like 1 9/16". I want to upgrade because of the super charger. I`ve used the Doug T`s in a 68 C10 fit nice, strong header... kinda don't care for their aesthetics lol.

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
Just an FYI for all you guys following this thread...the 67-72 trucks are on this year's development schedule at Holley to get the same Hooker Blackheart LS swap system treatment as the 73-87 trucks did a couple of years ago. It's possible that the 73-87 headers will fit on them, but I'm not going to count on it as it's never proven to be the case with any of the headers from the dozen LS swap systems I've developed to date...sometimes they get close, but never quite good enough to give them a passing grade.

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
It just stands to reason that the front frame rails have to be VERY similar between them, since even the entire K member is the same. So the only real differences I can reason out are firewall clearance and engine mounts. Take into account the use of the newer style engine mounts and even the possible use of dirty dingo sliders to re position the engine for clearance of the firewall it would seem the headers SHOULD be a good fit. Seems like almost none of the headers fit well with a stickshift and require grinding the ears of a 4L80E.

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
Just an update. The Dougs headers ( Dougs, not Doug Thorley) came in and I tried the drivers side and it just barely touches the 69 V8 motor stands. I could trim them but don't like that idea. So I removed the driver side mount and set in 81 engine brackets. The engine sitting in its current position, the #1 primary again barely touches the 81 clamshell mount BUT using the 81 mount will require 73-87 style slider plates and will require me to move the engine back 1.5 inches. Then the headers will fit like a glove. When the new plates get here I will install everything and take pics.

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
The mounts I had. 67-72 v8 in the front holes. And the old style adapters sitting on the 73-87 clamshells. The boss on the block needs to be about the center of the clam to make the headers clear so the engine must move back.

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
Drivers side in and fits great once some eBay slider brackets are installed. These don't tuck inside the frame like the Thorley headers, they hang down about an inch below the rail, but no lower than the truck oil pan does. I still need to slip in the passenger side bu I have no doubt it will be as good a fit. The front primary hit the old mounts and in pics it looks like mine have a pretty straight run while the Hooker and Speed Engineering headers have a crook that might clear. Dirty Dingo also makes sliders for the old style motor mounts and that may have worked as well but I already had the 73-87 mounts so I used them. With both styles of mount the engine HAD to be set back a hair for clearance.

Re: `73-87 Hooker LS headers in a 67-72 C10???
Lovin these. I am convinced that the original mounts would have fit if I'd had slider plates instead of the solid ones. With the engine back there's lots of room.
