68 GMC options?
I just picked up a horn button, cig lighter delete, e-brake cover, and glove box door from a 68 GMC Custom C20. My question is- was wood grain an option in 68 for GMC? The delete button and glove box both have the wood grain. The cluster did not. It looks just like my 67 C20, black with the silver painted edge. Unfortunately, the SPID was not on the glove box door....

Re: 68 GMC options?
No woodgrain in 68 that I am aware of...

Re: 68 GMC options?
GMC liked to paint the instrument bezel face interior color.
Of course the interior color of my '71 Jimmy was black, anyway. Some wayback PO might've put JC Whitney woodgrain veneer on anything he wanted to in a fit of '70s ''earthiness.''

Re: 68 GMC options?
'70s earthiness would have been more like actually making a one from wood! Woodgrain in the interior was real popular from factory in "upscale" '60s cars, which is why the upscale trucks got it.

Re: 68 GMC options?
That "wood" used in car interiors was known as "Genuine Fake Ukumbeke Wood" when I was a kid. My 71 GMC custom had it on the door panels at the top. In reality, it was just like Ma Tac.

Re: 68 GMC options?
Thanks for the replies. I kind of figured this was an aftermarket add on, but thought I'd ask here. I'm hoping my next trip I can snap some pics and post them up. Dude has a 60-66 GMC v6 c10 suburban.... I want it so bad, but he wants 1400 and I can't afford that AND a divorce lawyer... Lol

Re: 68 GMC options?
Another small oddity, the chrome body trim. I thought all GMC's 67-68 had the yellow stripe instead of black. This trucks was black.
