My truck has lockouts in the front, and the truck won't move unelss the t-case is in one of the loc positions with them unlocked. If I put it in 4hi or 4low then the front drive shaft will only spin. This is because the t-cases differential is sending all the power to the easisest path. Basicly to use two wheel drive, you need to put the t-case in a loc position. Also you should get the Mile Marker conversion kit, it turns the 203 into a part-time transfer case.

Sounds like the conversion to the Transfer case needs to be done. When you say "automatic" hubs it was really just a drive flange that locked the hub to the axle shaft. Just putting manual hubs on wont work you have to install a kit to stop the differential in the transfer case from sending all the power to the front driveshaft when the hubs are unlocked and tc in 4hi. In 4hi lock you are esentially locking the TC differential. What fanman said.

what exactly does the conversion do?
my transfer case is the same way. wit the conversion will i get 2hi 2lo n 4hi 4lo? its only about 50 bucks what does it come with?
my main reason for wanting it is that i want to be able to lock my hubs in and still have 2 wheel drive then get stuck and just shift into 4wd without having to get out in the mud and lock the hubs in. like you can do with a 205. is that what the conversion does?

yep, it basically "welds" the spider gears in the differential that's in the tc.
