Ps pump pulley
Hey guys I'm New to this and hoping to find the help I need.
I have a 72 c10. I bought a 283 sbc for it and I ran into trouble with the power steering pump pulley not lining up with everything else. (The pump is off a 70 c10 350 I believe). I've asked around and no-one seems to know. I'm wondering if it's the pulley I need or a different bracket. Any advice is appreciated! |

Do you have a short or long water pump? I think that's what you base you pulley choice on.

It is a short water pump. I wonder if the brackets I have are for a long water pump maybe

I had the same problem when I installed the Brothers power steering kit on my 70c10 I ended up shimming out the crankshaft and water pump pulleys no pics yet but I can get some. I left the alternator on the left side where it was originally so I wouldn't have to change the wiring harness. I live just down the road from Jegs and they had them in stock also Summit sells them good luck!

Mine sits there, but I have a factory 4 rib crank pulley. Power steering is the 3rd one from the block on mine.

Power steering sits on the 3rd row of the crank pulley, factory its a separate pulley and keys to the inner pulley, it wont work with that aluminum pulley you have now.
The 3rd row is also a little further out than 1st and 2nd row separation, 1/8" or so. |

The shaft on your pump looks long. Is there a way you could mount the pulley closer to the pump? Another option is to find a three groove lower pulley so that it will line up with your pump.

The 1970 has the old style pump with a nut holding the pulley on. The newer ones are just pressed on.
Just thought this info might be helpful. |
