radiator support help
So I have a radiator support that someone had cut off the headlight cups on. Does any know why someone would cut these off and is there someone I can just buy the headlight support part? Or know of a way I could make something so my light sit right?

Re: radiator support help
Why would someone cut them off????
I think you are going to have to find a new core support or rescue the headlight mounts from another core support.

Re: radiator support help
The cup that the headlight sets in is just mounted with 2 screws and a spring. Take a picture so everyone understands the problem. I will have to look but probably have just the cups.

Re: radiator support help
Was it a GMC support? If so, someone may have removed the headlight brackets so they could use the support on a chevy.
Good luck finding some, Rg

Re: radiator support help
Okay, 2 things I see.
One is yeah, someone cut the jimmy part off so they could change to a chevy grill. Do you have a grill? Is it the chevy or the gmc grill? Check this thread, especially post #5, it talks about changing the gmc to a chevy support by removing the parts your's is missing. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=143068 Second, the fenders are 69-72 chevy fenders, not GMC fenders. You do have the 69-72 gmc hood latch assembly. Not sure about the center grill support. Maybe you should just run a 69-72 chevy grill... Good luck, Rg

Re: radiator support help
I have a Chevy grill. I did not know the hood latch was different. Will I need to swap the hood latch?

Re: radiator support help
I'm not sure, the latches are the same except the GMC handle is shifted off to the side to miss the center part of the gmc grill. If it interferes with the Chevy grill you will need the chevy hood latch.
I'm curious, was this truck together or apart when you got it? I'm asking because I can't see how the chevy headlight buckets are going to go on there with out some extra holes (square ones at that) being in the radiator support. Rg

Yea my worry with fabricating one would be trying to position it right. This is why I wanted to get a pair and just weld or bolt on like you suggested. Yea I had some choice words when I found the zip tied on lights. Some people just never do stuff right... |

Re: radiator support help
It appears that those dual cups are the only thing different about about the GMC/Chevrolet supports. I always thought they were much more different from each other. I have some sources that I'll check with to see if I can get you some. It's all goes back to GMC discrimination..

Re: radiator support help
I was looking on ebay they have 7 inch round headlight mounts that would probably work too. Here is the link http://m.ebay.com/itm/Pair-Mounting-...%257Ciid%253A1

Re: radiator support help
Well the 7 inchers won't work with the GMC trim pieces as they are 5 1/4". Are you gonna use a GMC grille or Chevrolet?
