Stripping a LS donor truck - Newbie!

Hey every one! New guy here looking for some direction. I just picked up a '00 Silverado to pull the engine from to swap my '71. The donor truck is a Z71 (4x4) so I will not be using the transmission, but aside from the obvious (engine, harness, pcm) what else should I pull from this thing? It is a complete truck!

It's dbc, so no worry with the pedal. I'm just trying to make sure I don't overlook anything before I send this rusty turd to the crusher lol

Cruise module and cable if you want it.

I would pull the trans to swap for a 2wd trans

What about the sensor that's on the air box, what did you do there?

Nice tip on the cruise! Is there a safety switch or anything for the break pedal I may need? The 4wd trans is trashed. So no luck there. Transfer case broke and destroyed it all

I didn't use the airbox..I was just saying some people use the donor airbox in their swaps..some look like it came from the factory that way..not sure about any sensor on the airbox

may want to get the throttle cable to reuse if you need to and whatever you can get to use from the fuel system

I did keep my doner air box and now plan on swapping the cone air filter out for factory to help reduce the intake noise.
I also used the fuel pump and some of the lines to the engine.

You only need the cruise box and harness your already getting I believe. I found a stalk from a mid 70's van works best. There is a cruise thread here somewhere, lsnova is a guru with cruise.

Re: Stripping a LS donor truck - Newbie!

I strip em , like an old indian did the buffalo! the 4wd parts are worth some coin, as are the doors, or any decent sheet metal, AC compressor/heater parts, ect. I have parted 2 trucks, & have 2 free engines/harnesses, & a free 4l60 trans The last one, I gave away 150 in scrap....but the guy had to work with me , to cut up into pcs to haul....the truck did not owe me anything Longhorn
