Barrett-Jackson Lot 681
Just posted by mistake in the truck forum. Lot 681 at Barrett-Jackson, a black 1971 Blazer w/LS3 conversion, just sold for $200,000.

Re: Barrett-Jackson Lot 681
That was a bit shocking! Even by Barrett Jackson standards.

Re: Barrett-Jackson Lot 681
OK. What makes this blazer worth $220,000 besides the buyer bid it up that high. I don't see one costing that much all parts and labor added together. But I ain't good at cyphering

The good news is that I can tell my wife I'm OK to spend another $196,000 on my Blazer.

Just stupid! No way in hell it's worth that! Doesn't mean our trucks will jump up in price or do they? lol! Makes the hobby look stupid at times! IMO.

I noticed that it had the same wheels on it as those on my Jimmy, which were undoubtedly the major value driver.

Re: Barrett-Jackson Lot 681
For those that watched this go through was it a charity or something? I looked at the pics and description on the barrett jackson web site and it looked nice but $40k nice not $220k. If it was for a charity it would make a little more sense but still crazy. Didn't look that special at all. Just a nice resto with a 6.2 LS swap....

Re: Barrett-Jackson Lot 681
Nope, not a charity auction... Just a couple of people with more money than sense.

Actually know the guy that sold it, he was beside himself. He does build really really nice cars however.

Re: Barrett-Jackson Lot 681
I'm not going to say crazy. If someone has that kind of disposable income and that is what they want to spend it on. All the power to them.
They could be in this forum next week looking for advice on how to restore it back to original. :-)

Re: Barrett-Jackson Lot 681
Good for the seller. As far as the buyer, it's worth that much to them. Could he turn around and resell for 220K? doubtful. I look at it like this. You could probably find a blazer for 5-15K as a project depending on the condition. Take it to a restoration shop and tell them to build you a blazer just like this one that sold for 220K. It would probably cost you about 100K, give our take

I agree. If you took it to a shop to have built you'll spend 2+ years waiting, wondering and stressing about the final outcome. For some people it just makes sense to buy one done and enjoy it. |

Re: Barrett-Jackson Lot 681
It's definitely a beautiful truck, but if I had $200K burning a hole in my pocket, I so could find a better investment than a 1971 Blazer. This is what happend to the classic Mopars and really all the muscle cars. These guys that have tons of money kept buying them for waaaay too much and now you can't find a really nice Challenger or Road Runner for reasonable money. Far as I'm concerned they ruined it for the rest of us. Hope that doesn't happen with these GM trucks!
