What paint for bumper, grille, door panels?
I'm planning on painting my rear step bumper here soon the original argent color. Does anyone here have any recommendations on rattlecan paint? I see east wood sells the argent silver color but it's like $13 a can + shipping..
I am also planning on repairing the one broken piece in my 1978(77-80) GMC grille. I am not sure what colors I need to restore my grille. I think I like the two shades of gray color with the tangerine/orange color for the actual GMC logo. Again, I'm looking for rattlecan recommendations. I'm going to add a photo to this thread to show which grille I have. Next is the door panels. I recently picked up a set of 81-87 door panels with manual windows. I prefer these door panels to the earlier ones so I'm looking to use these. What type of dye/vinyl paint do I need? I'm looking to be the Medium/Hawaiian blue color. SEM??

Re: What paint for bumper, grille, door panels?
I've used the Eastwood products for rally wheels, grill, etc... even use the semi-gloss for a final coat and it looks GREAT!!!
Look at it this way, the difference in the over all cost to paint what you're taking about will be very little between doing it "right" and "just good enough". But every time you look at yours vs. the guy next to you that did it right, you will wish you did so as well. For me, I just don't stop at the store and get a snack/drink/smokes/etc... to help fund the project. Plus, I lost a few pounds and I feel better to boot ;-) Enjoy, |

I'm considering the eastwood stuff, I just wasn't sure if someone would post "NOO! Don't use that, it's horrible." Good to hear that it's the way to go I suppose but $13 is pretty steep for spray paint.
What about the color for the GMC logo?
