1972 c10 body swap t56 AWD ls2 build
Starting a new build thread. I got a 1972 c10 swb that I'm going to put the body on a frame from a 2008 trailblazer ss. It will have the ls2 with a t56 and be AWD. I've already started a build thread over on tbssowners.com. http://www.tbssowners.com/forums/mem...wap-build.html
I will post some pics of stuff I have done already and more as I progress. I work alot so the posts might go quiet for a while but I update as soon as possible. |

Sounds like a great idea- what's the wheelbase difference?

Re: 1972 c10 body swap t56 AWD ls2 build
I got a plan to get the cab mounted soon. I made some simple inner rockers out of 1/8" plate steel. Built a tube frame structure for the cab floor support. I'm gonna connect the 2 and build some mount brackets to weld to the frame.

Nice work and a great idea. Forced induction would be a pleasant accessory on this build.

Re: 1972 c10 body swap t56 AWD ls2 build
I had a couple hours today and go the core support mounted. I had to do a bunch of measuring to make sure it got in the right spot. Wheel spacing, firewall spacing and room for radiator all look good.
The rest of the cab mounting process will be based of this. I did multiple searches on the internet and found that the front wheel centerline to the core support mounts on a c10 is 21.5 inches. So I measured from the tbss front wheel centerline and that's how I got the location to drill the wholes. I should have taken a pic of my contraption I had set up to get that measurement. It was kind epic/wonkey, but it worked. Once I get the cab tacked in place where it will set, I will set the bed on to make sure it will work and then weld everything in place. |

Re: 1972 c10 body swap t56 AWD ls2 build
Small photo dump. I've been spending alot of time on the fire wall. Got the flange made and welded in. I got the firewall cut to size. It will be cut and trimmed more. Got my pedals fabbed up. Waiting on the pedal pad rubbers to come in the mail. There is more to be done on the pedal bracket, but I got to get the firewall set in place first. I'm gonna attempt to emboss a design on the firewall by hand. I've gotta get some mdf board and get a design figured out. I was able to cut the temporary cab support out. I figured I was far enough along to do that. I think that's about it for now.

Looks like you are making some good progress on it. We now have a forum for projects and builds and I will move your build thread over there. LockDoc, Moderator .
