Power steering help
Got a LS 5.3 with a stock GM PS pump. It's going to power a mustang 2 style rack. I've been reading up on this, and it seems as if the GM pumps put out in excess of 1000psi and the ford racks like less than 1000 or they are over-sensitive. I have no experience with this and don't know if it's true or if in need a pressure reducer. Plumbing my PS is coming up soon. Do i need a pressure reducer?

Re: Power steering help
I believe the pressure reducer comes highly recommended or else adapt the ford pump. the reducer is the easy way.

Re: Power steering help
most suppliers of the mII front end kit will be able to hook you up with the recommended reducer. they are fairly cheap really.

Re: Power steering help
there are also pressure regulator kits which use shims to regulate the pressure output. some like them some don't. they are a little more money but still not gonna break the bank, under #25 I think.
https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...p306/overview/ or here for the one presuure output made to reduce to a ford rack. borgeson is a quality name but don't know how the kit works compared to the regulator. maybe someone else has used them? https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...9001/overview/ |
