8 lug 16 inch steel wheel prices.

Last time I purchased a set of these from Summit (Wheel Vintiques) I thought the price wasn't too bad. But now they are 118 bucks a wheel.

So now I'm considering looking for a set of the Ford 8 lug 7inch wheels. Kinda sucks because I'm not really a junk yard checker outer guy any more haha. So I'm going to have to Craigslist it or see if any of the local guys has a set they want to part with. Two hundred bucks total is my max (less would be better). What have you guys been paying for these wheels? So far Ive had zero luck finding any. To have them shipped would put them out of my range.

Re: 8 lug 16 inch steel wheel prices.

I check the local transfer station once every two or three months. I normally get two or three sixteen inch eight lug wheels every time I go - I'm starting to get a pretty impressive pile built up in the shed. If you were closer, I wouldn't mind donating a few to the cause.

Not so plentiful around here, I think I paid close to $40 each. Then paid to get them sandblasted & powdercoated.

Interesting, Gundies delivers stuff to the body shop behind my office all the time. What do I put in the search windows?

Re: 8 lug 16 inch steel wheel prices.

Looks like the going rate is around 45 bucks. I'm going to pop in to the body shop next door and see if they can pick a set of these up for me at their price.

Re: 8 lug 16 inch steel wheel prices.

The junk yard in by town takes all steel wheels, welds two together with one flat on ground and other standing up, to make jack stands now. It sucks for getting wheels, but great for having every vehicle up off the ground.

You can buy new 16 x 6 wheels for under $70, but I guess you want wider. Too bad you missed that sale on 8" wheels Jegs had late summer. They were going for $90@

Re: 8 lug 16 inch steel wheel prices.

I saw that sale but at the time I wasn't positive what was going on with my trucks. Ill probably have to move the K20 down the road in the end. I don't think the tires and wheels on it now while amazing looking (IMO lol), wont add to the value of the truck and it will be money lost so Ill just keep them. A set of steelies painted white with some decent tires and the truck will still look great.

I was out at the farm this weekend and the person that was storing her motor home out there moved it (was asked to vacate). And I found out we need to go out to the family home and see if there is anything (sentimental) that any of us would want to keep. Things are rolling along much faster than I wish.

They have been doing that here as long as I've been going to junkyards. I've seen countless 8" 6 lug steelies and other hard to find sizes made into jack stands.

Re: 8 lug 16 inch steel wheel prices.

I just bought four from PartsGeek.com. They were "rebuilt", whatever that means. Basically they were cleaned up and powder coated. 57 bucks a piece and they are pretty nice. I mounted them this last weekend.

57 bucks with new powder coat sounds like a pretty good deal. Mind posting or linking to some pics?

I like steel wheels on my truck but mine are rusty, what are you guys doing to clean them up before painting? sandblasting is always an option but adds to the cost

The next best thing to sandblasting is cup brush on a mini-grinder. I get good results taking them down with that, sand edges some, if needed put rust converter on, etch prime, and paint.

Re: 8 lug 16 inch steel wheel prices.

Im picking them up tomorrow night after work. Ill take them somewhere and get the bald tires dismounted. Im probably just clean em up real good by hand and use some sort of primer and white spray paint out of a can. I do not want to spend a ton of dough on them. Then Ill start my search for some tires. Im not up on tire sizes, but Ill need them to be at least as tall as the tires on my truck right now. 33x12.5x16.5. Don't care if they are narrower.
