why cant I post pics to a thread anymore?

just last week I could post pics to a thread by clicking on post reply and there would be a paper clip I could click on and it would allow me to go into my saved pics on my computer and download them to post them on a thread, now the paperclip doesn't show up so I have no way of posting pics, did something change??????this is frustrating...

Don't you just love computers? Every time they "upgrade" something it's twice as hard to do.

Try posting your question in the "Site feedback and Announcements" forum, you may get an answer there.... I don't know the answer. I still have the paper clip when I click on "Post Reply". Are you posting from a computer or mobile device?

Experimenting here using the paperclip. I see the paperclip only on advanced, but when I use it I can't see my attachment unless I preview the post. If you are posting several pics and would like to comment on each one individually it is not possible. You can only use text before the start of the first pic. I started using photobucket just for that reason. Its a pain not to be able to construct a post without an outside host.

The only problem with using a hosting service is that if they ever go belly up or you have to move your pictures to another host for any reason, every picture you have ever posted on the board through that service will disappear from your threads or posts. There have been build threads and "How to" threads with a lot of great pictures on here that have gone "POOF" in a heartbeat.....

Yep, and I don't like to use them either. So I usually end up posting one pic or a string of pics with one description. It sucks not being able to simply load a pic off of my computer and see it in the reply area. As I mentioned, the photo can be seen in the preview post area, but the page you actually type on is blank except for text. Pretty strange.

If you want to post a pic and text between it and the next one, It's easy to do.

I use a different method but it works.

You still have to click on advanced to post the picture but here is what you do.

When you click on advanced post a screen comes up with the manage attachments option on it in the menu below the post.
Click on that and and another screen come up with five choices for pictures that say (choose file).

Click on the first one and it takes you to your hard drive where you can see your files and folders I.E. My Pictures. Then you'll see some folders or files where your picture is located. You have to know where it's located on the computer.

When you find it you simply click on it and then click on upload on the choose file window and it'll upload. Then you can go to the next choose file and do the same thing until you load 5 pictures or as many as you needed.

then close the choose file window and you can see you uploaded files at the bottom of your post. You'll have to click on each one to preview it and then click on the X by the file to close it.

Now for the best part.

Type whatever you want to say about the picture- for instance-

Here is a picture of my engine.

( Then click the paperclip and the attachment will load just below what you typed. You can space it lower by clicking the enter key.)

(XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX)

Now just below the attachment you can type whatever you want about it or something about the next picture.

For instance. Now this is how I mounted my alternator. (click paper clip again and then click the file. Place it with your cursor.)

Try it and see if it works.

And all along I thought everyone was way smarter than me, as they were able to do that and I just could not figure it out.
