Windshield Weatherstrip
My 85 has the chrome locking strip in the windshield with the little joint cover piece in the middle.
Is the weatherstrip without the locking strip any wider or much different looking? Should most auto glass places be able to install the chrome locking strip without much difficulty? I am having the windshield replaced and debating if I should go with or without the chrome locking strip. THIS IS WHY I AM ASKING...

I believe the weather strip accepts a black or a chrome locking strip. I don't think they make a windshield seal that does not use a locking strip (for the front windshield). Back windows are different.
The locking strip is easy to install if you have the tool. A glass shop should be able to do this in their sleep. I did one a week ago in about 30 minutes and I do only 1 a year, maybe. If your truck has chrome moldings already then go for chrome. The last one cost me $25 CDN so they are not expensive. |
