68 C10 Disc Brakes
ok looking for some help. I have a 68 swb and want to put disc brakes on it. I also have a 72 donor. I want to take the disc from the 72 and put them on the 68 , but I'm going to put 2 1/2" drop spindles on it. what parts do I need to replace?

Re: 68 C10 Disc Brakes
I would talk to whoever you're getting your spindles from first

Re: 68 C10 Disc Brakes
I figured that would play into it . I'm trying to figure which ones to get. I found some that are compatible with 72

Re: 68 C10 Disc Brakes
Sounds like that would be the way to go. Good thing you're buying 2 of them, they run a little lopsided if you don't

Re: 68 C10 Disc Brakes
If you need to buy dropped spindles anyway then you can get ones that will allow you to use your 68 ball joints and tie rod ends. That would be the easiest way to go. If you use 72 parts then you would need to use the whole suspension or change your ball joints and use an adapter sleeve for your tie rods.

Re: 68 C10 Disc Brakes
Why not just pull the whole front cradle the suspension is attached to on the 72, and bolt it up to your 68? It's only 10 bolts and drops right out if the engine is already out of your way. That way if you need anything for the front end, you know to just order stuff for a 72. Then you can order drop spindles for a 72 as well.

Re: 68 C10 Disc Brakes
I took all of the front suspension and disc brakes from a 1972 frame and swapped it all over to a 1969 frame. I used the stock spindles and 2" lowering springs instead of drop spindles. Here is a link to my build thread where I did the swap. I posted a few pics of the brake lines in the thread as well:
