Best bang for my buck - Drop Spindles

Hello everyone, I'm planning on lowering my 68 SWB here pretty soon and converting it over to 5 lug and was hoping for your input. I have been talking to Charley from Charley's Drop Shop in Portland, OR about doing the work and am deciding between drop spindles vs. drop A arms and wanted to get some opinions on what is the best option and which drop spindles you recommend. I am willing to spend the money for the right set, links would be appreciated!

I'm running ECE 2.5" drop spindles and 2" drop springs on a 67 w/disc brakes. 255/40/20 rubber up front, no issues at all. Quality parts and nice drop.

Those components can be had for about 400 bucks ( minus the wheel/tire ).

Oh, x2 on not going with drop arms. The ones I've seen on the road and at shows have a bowl or cup for the bottom of your coil spring that ends up being the lowest part of your truck ( hanging down dangerously below the lower A-arm ).

Some look/function better than others I'm sure so YMMV.

Re: Best bang for my buck - Drop Spindles

I used Western Chassis 2.5 drop spindles that accept the 73-87 discs. $249 on their site.

Re: Best bang for my buck - Drop Spindles

I recommend keeping your stock control arms and going with an entire kit from CPP or somebody else. I went with CPP and it went well. I put front disc brakes on lowered spindle and leaf springs...power brakes and power steering. Good to go! My only real expense besides parts was paying a shop to put new ball joint and shaft in control arms and he charged me about $250 and then $110 at Les Scwab for alignment. If you have shop or big enough garage you can do yourself. I can help if you need some.

Re: Best bang for my buck - Drop Spindles

Ive got a set of drop spindles that are pretty nice and give you about 2.5in of drop.
They are cast pieces and use a CNC'd chrom-moly 4140 pin.
Check out the link below and let me know what you think.

Too much coin for bolt on caliper adapters.

Re: Best bang for my buck - Drop Spindles

That looks like a good deal to me and after reading the testimonials it looks promising. I will probably go that way on my '65 Chevelle once I'm done with the truck. Thanks for sharing JohnJ.
