S10 swap cab mounts question
So the swap mount instructions/dimensions I find say to drill 1-3/4" holes for the cab mount bushing.
Did I do something wrong, or do I have different/wrong bushings? They fit without the sleeves, but the sleeves seem important. |

Re: S10 swap cab mounts question
I always make the holes a little bigger, 2", gives just a squeak of adjustment for these cabs that are all a little different. the way the mount clamps the plate, its more about the friction than the hole size that keeps the cab in place.
you must use the sleeves, the mount will mush (long o sound, like MOOSH) around without it.

Re: S10 swap cab mounts question
Thanks Joe.
I used a 2" hole saw the first time I made these mounts, but I didn't have a drill press, and they were really sloppy in there. Not sure what the heck to do now... Drum sander, here I come! |

Quote:
I have built a couple sets of these mounts for local guys and I always ask what mounts they want to use and how they want the mount holes, exact or slightly oversize. everyone has picked oversize so far haha. the cabs arent consistent enough in assembly or in the past 60 years of rust or repairs. so sometimes you need that 1/4" of wiggle. the rear body mounts on an s10 blazer have a smaller center for this reason, need a little room to line up for production variances.

Re: S10 swap cab mounts question
Two inch holes here too, gives you a little bit of "wiggle" room.
