1966 C10 Turn signal question and issue

Hey All,
I replaced my turn signal switch recently and also the plastic return piece on the back of the steering wheel as well with a NOS one. I have had 2 new turn signal switches installed in the last 6 months... both are acting up. Half the time they do not want to work, and my mechanic told me that his supplier told him this is a normal thing that they are finicky and never ever really worked correctly.... is anyone else having this issue? What can I do to resolve it? Is there some trick I am missing to correct this? Let me know. thanks

What specifically are they doing or not doing? No flash, no lights, no cancel?

If they are aftermarket, that's the quality that's out there unfortunately.

I am not sure of the brand ... I turn the signal left or right and half the time it will not flash... then I have to giggle it around. The aftermarket ones that have been put in are a issue for sure.

Does AC Delco make one? Is that after market? If so where?

OR OEM NOS?

Re: 1966 C10 Turn signal question and issue

I meant the turn signal indicator lights in my cluster on each side as it is clicked to what side I am using. Not a emergency flasher... sorry for the confusion.

Re: 1966 C10 Turn signal question and issue

Alright, so there's a round thing about the diameter of a quarter, inch long, mounted on the bottom of steering column upper area, right side-orange and white wires (if it's the same as a 65?)... that's the flasher. If it's toast, signals wont work. That's the thing that goes dink...dink...dink when you turn on the signal.
Or are you saying the green arrows in the cluster aren't working, but everything else is?

Re: 1966 C10 Turn signal question and issue

ok my entire wiring harness has been replaced in the whole truck including all the wiring in the steering column. So I do not know if that part is still there... sometimes I have to push it in a bit to get it to work... would it still be there if the harness was all replaced? The harness I used was a generic one not a factory one... it worked out great!

Re: 1966 C10 Turn signal question and issue

I don't know if the outside is working when the green light indicators are not on... what is the part called at the end of the column? orange in color size of a quarter....Would that be replaced in the harness replacement?
