Pushing rear wheels out?

I am currently running stock steelies with 235/75/15 tires. I like the look but would like to get the rear wheels farther out. I don't foresee buying different wheels in the near future. Can I use wheel spacers? If so, what thickness would I need to "clear" the stock lugs? I just cruise in my '64, no hotrodding with the 250.

I bought wheel spacers for an American Racing set of rims and tires I put on mine years ago. I have since gone back to the original steelies and left the spacers on with a 3" coil drop and it rides great. I cant remember how thick they were but a lil over an inch is what I recall. Either 1 1/8" or 1 1/4". I will have to pull tire to confirm. As I recall, finding the spacer was relatively easy.

Excellent! Don't worry about measuring. I'll look for the 1-1/4" spacers just to be safe. There was a 1-1/2" set on craigslist. Would that be too much? Don't want the tires rubbing on fender. (Guess I could just go measure how much room there is. Duh!)

Might have to change wheel studs with that thick of a spacer. I'm using the late 70's Blazer 15 x 8" stock wheel with a 235/75R15 and they sit good.

With the spacers on mine, I still have about an inch clearance from the inside fender with stock 6 lug 1/2T rims.

Yeah. That's the reason for mentioning size to clear lugs. I'd prefer not to grind the stock lifs down so the adapter will sit flat.

The last of the six lug differentials were 1 1/2" wider. 1971 I believe. Helps a bit.

Nope, very late '70 only were 6 lug but wider. '71-'72 were 5 lug.

I'll have to look on craigslist and junkyards for a wider rearend. May be better in the long run.

When I switched to disk brakes I used 1" spacers to keep my original steel wheels and clear the calipers. I also used 1"spacers on the rear so the truck would track the same and look the same from the rear. I like the look a lot. Can post pictures tomorrow if you want. I also dropped the back 3 " and the front 2".

That would be great. With 1" spacers did you have the stock studs have to be shortened?

These are the spacers I used. There may be better ones out there but I have had no issues with mine. I did not have to do anything with the studs.

I just bolted on a set like 61K10 shared. I used my lathe to turn a little out of the center opening to clear the concentric hubs. Worked like a charm.
