Replacement Radio

I'm looking into replacing my stock AM radio in my '78 GMC. I would really like FM and an AUX input. I don't want to cut up my dash, so I was wondering if anyone has experience with RetroSound or Classic Car Stereos or others. I have been really thinking about the RetroSound Laguna model. I have read some older reviews that say they don't last very long, but also there are very positive reviews. So does anyone have personal experience with them, or any other modern retro styled radio?

Re: Replacement Radio

I like the retro sound I put in my 84. Over a year and no complaints.

Re: Replacement Radio

Thanks for the replies. Glad to hear they are good to go. I'll be going with Retro. Looking forward to hearing music in the truck for once, not AM talk radio lol.

Re: Replacement Radio

My Buddy has a Retrosound with all the goodies and it has been working well for a couple of years now. It's a nice unit.

I originally added an input to my AC Delco so I could run a bluetooth adapter and stream my phone into it. It worked well, but still sounded like a Delco, so I recently went stereo shopping.

For about $80 (on sale) I got a JVC media player with Bluetooth and all the stuff my friend's Retrosound has. My dash is gettin cut!

But if I had $300 I woulda bought the Retro!

Re: Replacement Radio

I had an Alpine system setup when I had my 84 Scottsdale. Although it was nice, I'm wanting to keep this truck original looking lol.

I'll sell you a nice original am/fm.....got it from someone here on the forum. Believe it or not I went with an original AM radio....yep....my dash is uncut. (Are we still talking about dashes and radios here?) My truck is a 77.

I don't remember exactly. I had Alpine speakers in the doors and behind the seat, and an amp behind the seat as well. I sold the truck about 8 years ago. I'll dig through my pics and see if I can find any pics of the setup or the head unit.
